Ever wonder how water evaporates off a surface?

Well it came about today when I was washing the car and obviously noticed some parts of the car drying faster than the other. What I am interested in is how does the water evaporate??, we were all taught at 100 degrees celcius is the temperature liquid turns to gas.

My reason for posting is becuase I searched the net specifically google and came up with some results but I think the discussion were not satisfactory.

Well we have to keep in mind temperature just gives us a unit to explain vibrations of molecules. The question that remains in my mind is does the water molecule store energy till the desired vibration is achieved and thereby able to exit the surface tension of each droplet?? kind of like a battery, when too much energy is inserted it will blow up.

This is of course assuming the water isnt hard water nor soft water therefore RO water. Ionic attractions were ignored during the above assumption. WIll be updating more soon once I get more theories….

All this and I have forgotten that at any temperature water evaporates but at different rates total pressures in a container remember??
